I’m in Central Texas. We had a spectacular downpour earlier this week. It broke our 10+ day streak of over 100 degree days. The respite lasted 2 days now we’re back at it.
Just looking at these pictures made me feel a bit cooler. Posted them over at Maybethinking.com for my heat wearied friends.
Thanks!
Shelly
Send that weather this way. You had a 10 day streak of hot weather? We’ve had a month of nonstop rain and cold! I’d be happy to send ours your way, haha.
I love these! I live in Las Vegas where it is sunny about 355 days out of the year so I really miss the rain…..
I arrived with my friend Ivy … I love the rain .. the photos are beautiful .. leads to a rich cup of coffee or a warm chocolatae .. God but I am afraid when storm … Thank you for sharing .. a hug from Venezuela.. Yovanira
Clearly photoshopped, you can see the pixels. I really think that when people are going to photoshop all of their pictures, they should really know what they are doing.
What? Where?
Why so negative?
lose the captions…. good photography should esches captions… actually just trying to use ‘eschew’ in a sentence – you have artistic license to do whatever you want… do it more
those are amazing. I love them.
thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us
they are really beautiful showing natures true beauty
keep it up! n may god bless you!
Absolutely amazing, you have re-inspired me to take up a camera and get snapping!
Loved the pictures, “After the Rain Especially”,
I’m with John on this. They are obviously photoshopped. Yes, they are beautiful pictures, but they aren’t natural pictures. If one wants to show natural beauty(and it is easy to do that), one shouldn’t use photshop, camera trickery, and staged props to make them. When they do, they’re not natural. They’re still beautiful, no doubt, but they’re not reflections of reality. They’re only reflections of fantasy.
This really is the difference between someone who just wants to show their skill, and someone who wants to show their passion. They’re not the same thing.
lol @ the photoshop comments. it’s rain!
I love these pictures they are amazing. I would love to be a photographer.
Great pictures!!!
Beautiful!!!! You are gifted.

Also, deirdre moran, you love the element in water in many of them? Are you serious? You missed that these are, specifically, all, pictures of rain?
Really?

the 11th pic: its a guy not a lady…. other than tat good pics…
Some are not natural images. Still awesome tho. Cool pics :)
So what if some (or all) are photoshopped? Are you not inspired, moved, in awe, think of life a little brighter?
One can say that CG is “not truth”, “not reality”. Neither is television, films. In fact, photography is “not reality” – one uses aperture settings and white balance to get the best effect. Photoshop just aids this representation. Do you not use sunglasses when the light is too bright? Do you not use makeup on your face? It is to enhance, protect and shield. Photoshop can manipulate, enhance, focus and improve.
What is reality? Is it what you can see, touch? Then how does one represent this in a picture? A picture is a signifier – it points to the referent, it is not the referent itself. A photoshopped photograph is simply an enhancement of that reference, it is not a simulacrum.
Perhaps one should look at the theory of reality before one starts to detract from the beauty inherent in these photographs. The photographer still needs to compose and light the shot. What this photographer (he or she) has produced is an incredible form of art, photoshop or not.
I know that at least one of these photos isn’t photoshopped, since it was taken here in iceland and capture what a rainy night looks like to me. It is the one taken throught a car window looking up a street with stoplights and large houses on either side. It is actually a street close to the University so I drive it all the time… funny finding it here when I was just using StumbleUpon ;)
made me feel like dancing in the rain (:
*thumbs up*
Its so cold in The Netherlands right know, I wish for rain :>)
Really excellent cross section of images. I always appreciate collections like this that aren’t all just one style…
Beautiful and inspiring, especially as I look out of the window at leaden grey skies.
Very nice collection of shots! I need to try something like this.
These are absolutely amazing. It’s been raining for days where I am as well and I’ve been putting off my photoshoots because of it, maybe I should take a lesson from these photos.
